Winter Winds

Art and poem by Dedra Weiss

The bitter cold of winter surrounds my cozy home. The fire dances inside the hearth; the flames like glowing, orange figures swaying to the song of the crackles and pops. Outside the wind swirls and whistles through the trees, as if it is asking to come inside. Is it a friend or foe? Its intentions I do not know.

Winter inspires me to write, draw, and create. I love warmth of the fire on my face and hands as I stand beside it. The contrast of the bitter cold outside with the sheltering, warmth inside spurred me to write "Winter Winds."
